Larry Capps and Carl Monk Join Board of Directors

Huntsville, AL- Sept. 9, 2009

 

Torch Technologies is pleased to announce that Larry Capps and Carl Monk have been elected to the Torch Technologies Board of Directors.

 

Mr. Capps currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, directing and managing the state's major tourist attraction. He has also served as Manager of Raytheon's Huntsville Operations, and Director of their Command, Control, Communications, and Intelligence Operations. Mr. Capps retired as a Brigadier General from the U.S. Army in 1991 with his last assignment as Deputy Commanding General of the Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal. He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and received a Master of Science in Operations Research/Systems Analysis from the U.S. Naval postgraduate School. He is also a graduate of the U. S. Army Command and General Staff College, the Defense Language Institute, the Defense Systems Management College, and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.

 

Mr. Monk is retired after a five year career with Scitor Corporation where he most recently held the position of Vice President and Director of Corporate Initiatives. While there he helped facilitate an ESOP buyout from Scitor's founding owners. Previously, after 20 years of military service, Mr. Monk founded Welkin Associates, Ltd., a systems engineering firm, in 1987. He served as CEO and CFO for over 10 years before the company was acquired by Nichols Research Corporation. He continued serving Nichols as President of National Programs and Executive Vice President of Government Programs. Mr. Monk holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in computer Science from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, and is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School.
